What a interesting day it has been. We chose the coastal route to get to Rome from Lucca. 1st stop Pisa. My thouht was "we can't be within 10 miles and NOT stop". It was a fun little side trip and a pretty decent lunch. Bruchetta was fantastic! I dont think Pisa is a place I'd stay though.
Back on the road we ran into the hail storm of all hail storms and sat under a bridge for 20 minutes. A little nerve wracking - but also part of the adventure.
Our hotel? Well? Not as expected - but entertaining and something we will likely be telling stories about for some time. Its very....artistic. A picture of Sophia Lauren hangs over Lornnas bed. Gina Lolabridgita (sp?) hangs above ours. It takes 4 keys to get in (glad for that). Its a bit off the beaten path. Again...not as expected - but adventure worthy. Gladly - we will be spending a majority of our time touring Rome! And not resting in our B&B (Makes me miss Roberto and Margherita).
We caught a cab to the colliseum, did some advance scouting (for tomorrow), ate a average (well, below average) dinner, drank a fantastic bottle of wine, and headed back to out B&B for the night.
Things to be thankful for. 1. I am in Rome. 2. I have amazing friends who always make me laugh. 3. I got to speak to Tori and Emily tonight :). Life is good.
Now THAT's bruschetta!!! And that's definitely hail, too. Glad you had the one and avoided the other! Keep charging.
ReplyDeletep.s. it's Loren and Lollobrigida, if you really care.
