I look forward to testing my newly aquired cooking skills. We had a really nice day at Tenuta Casanova where Rita and Silvano taught us how to prepare a number of dishes. (I must add we consumed wine (chianti classico and super tuscan) the entire time we cooked...and after!)
All of our ingredients were organic and grown right there on the farm. We met Silvanos pet Boar (lornna made friends with her). We were also introduced to his newest "beginning training" truffle hunting puppy.
On the menu: pasta fresca (tagliatelle..and yes we made the pasta too).
Tagliolini with truffle oil. (This was amazing - also added capers). (The sauce for the tagliatelle)
Pici o pici. Basically hand rolled spagetti noodles. Fun to make - yummy to eat)
Sugo all'Aglione : the sauce for the pico o pici (made with tomatoes, garlic, chili pepper and basil....perfect)
Ciaccino o focaccia sale o olio (or..flatbread with salt and oil).
We made this in 4 versions: one with olives, one with tomatoes, one with sangiovese grapes, rosemary, olive oil and sugar and one with gargonzola. (So easy to make).
And of course, Tiramisu. Mmmmmmm. I suspect I will be making this more than anything else.
Grilled peppers with olive oil salt pepper balsalmic vinegar and garlic
Packing the 30 yr old balsamic and truffle oil in my luggage and can't wait to share with friends and family.
